Certificates of Appropriateness – Robert King

v Motion to follow the recommendation of the Historic Architectural Review Board and direct President of Council to sign the following Certificates of Appropriateness, thereby approving the historical appropriateness of the application, with final approval by the Code Enforcement Officer. Sec.

COA 2012-11 H Residents Daniel & Paula Everitt, 109 E. Washington Avenue

The applicants are seeking a Certificate of Appropriateness for the replacement of a chain link fence with a wooden fence, and the addition of new wood trellises.

HARB recommended approval of the application as presented. 

COA 2012-012-H Applicant:  Ellen Son, DMD, 154 N. State Street, State Street Dentistry

The applicant is seeking a Certificate of Appropriateness for a wall sign for State Street Dentistry, to be mounted on the front façade.

COA 2012-017-H Applicant:  Eugene H. Charlton, 129 N. State Street, apartments/retail shop

The applicant is seeking a Certificate of Appropriateness for the removal of two chimneys and replacement of the roof.

HARB recommended approval of the application as presented, noting that:

·      The HARB concurred with the decision of the Joint Historic Commission approving the demolition of the chimneys,

·      The cedar shingle roofing, being one of the two kinds of existing roofing on the house, is approved as a roof replacement in kind.

·      The two demolished chimneys will be rebuilt using wood frames, with bricks from the demolished chimneys to be used for veneer, and with the detail and dimensions to match the demolished chimneys.
